I feel inadequate the moment I open social media.
I’m overwhelmed with a flood of information:
I should be doing more of this, less of that.
I should be working out more.
Sleeping better.
Doing better in general.
Also, it’s bad news. Everything. Everywhere. All of the time.
Lost in tech, which takes me away from real life.
The reality is that I don’t need more information. I need a dopamine detox!
I’m not here to add to your overstimulation from the endless noise of online information. I’m here to support you—and me— in getting off the exhausting hamster wheel of infinite distraction!
I believe that you are here for more than this distraction, overwhelm,
and hopelessness
(I know I am)
As is my way, I did a deep dive to work out how to get my phone use under control. I read Dopamine Nation and Indistractable, and am currently finishing Stolen Focus.
I learned that a 21-day dopamine detox is a worthwhile first step!
So I created one.
Why? Because I couldn’t find one for people like me. Us sensitive souls, down-to-earth seekers, and conscious misfits. We ran it in December, which went super well!
Lisa—who has since become a client and friend—has to use social media for her work. But she still knew something needed to change. Here is her experience:
”I’m a freelance creator, and I was wasting a lot of time on Instagram. Whenever I felt insecure about creating authentically or overwhelmed by emotions, I'd start doom scrolling to avoid those feelings…which only left me feeling empty and overstimulated. I decided to start the Dopamine Detox Challenge, and I found it incredibly grounding. Though losing my 'escape button' was hard, it gave me space to face and process my emotions instead of burying them. It got me in touch with my intuition, with Nathan's incredible support and a genuinely supportive community guiding me through this journey. If you're looking for a solution, I cannot recommend this enough. Go all in and allow yourself to be supported through this journey that I think you know you need to take.” -Lisa Clark
Do you find yourself endlessly scrolling?
Which hurts your creativity and levels of anxiety?
Well, Adrienne can relate!
“I was endlessly scrolling through social media for no reason, which left me feeling anxious and always in a hurry. Finding this challenge gave me the accountability I needed, along with motivating prompts that kept me engaged. Each day got better and better. The supporting and kind environment helped me kick the dopamine habit, and Nathan's breathwork exercises were really helpful in creating new patterns. The results have been clear! I've been much less anxious and far more rested and productive. I feel motivated to be more mindful about how my tech habits affect my creativity. Stepping away from scrolling has been such a positive shift that I won't go back!” -Adrienne Morris
Find yourself getting sucked into pointless online arguments again and again?
But you keep going back again and again?
Well, Nellye was right there with you!
"Before joining the Dopamine Detox Challenge, I was constantly reaching for my phone at every spare minute, mindlessly scrolling and engaging in unnecessary social media debates. This compulsive behavior left me feeling anxious, discontent, and inadequate. The challenge reminded me that I have the power to choose my actions. Knowing I wasn't alone in this journey toward something more meaningful. Now, I've developed a much healthier relationship with technology and am more in tune with myself - my thoughts, emotions, and spirit. My urge to spend excessive time on social media has significantly decreased. I've become part of this amazing tribe of 'lovely weirdos' who support each other in creating lasting positive changes.” - Nellye Hight
